Barrow upon Soar in Photographs: The Bells of Holy Trinity Church

The Bells of Holy Trinity Church

In 1972, the existing ring of 6 bells was augmented to a ring of 8 bells. A brief history of the bells prior to this is given in an article written by the present Ringing Master, Mr B.Stedman Payne in The Ringing World, September 29th 1972. A copy of this appears in this section. The weights of bells Nos.7 and 8 (tenor) should be 9 and 9.1/2 cwt. respectively.
The inscription band from the old 12.1/2 cwt. tenor bell has been incorporated into a circular oak table which is in the belfry.
Complete Peals of over 5,000 changes are recorded in a special book which is kept in the belfry.
