STOP PRESS on Dec 7th

JELSON APPLICATION REFUSED

At the meeting of Charnwood Borough Council's planning committee held on 7th December 2011, Jelson Homes' application to build around 300 homes on land off Melton Road (Breachfield) was refused by a vote of 10 to 3.

The reason was the unsafe aspect of the Grove Lane – South Street/ Sileby Road junction which would become more heavily used if the development were to go ahead. This was a point of refusal in March 2010. The committee also said that they saw no solution to this. We believe the developer is very likely to appeal the decision.

Around 200 residents attended the two hour meeting in Loughborough Town Hall and loudly cheered the result.
