The Smithy
The Blacksmith's Shop stands in Church St. next to the Roundhouse. The last village blacksmith was Mr Jack Turlington who worked here until he retired. Photographs Nos. 21.1 to 21.4 were taken inside the shop on April 19th 1981 - just before Mr Turlington's daughter sold the property. Apart from the accumulation of 18 years dust, everything was just as Mr Turlington left in 1962.
21.05 is a photograph of an acrylic painting by the compiler. An impression of Mr Turlington at his forge. Painted 1983.
Mr Turlington died in 1968, aged 95 after 75 years as the village Blacksmith.
