What...
Britains largest man made lake, used as a reservoir. Maintained by Anglian Water Authority. Famous for bird watching and cycling. Great for picnics. Also has a butterfly collection, best seen in the warm summer months (so that doesn't leave much time!)

Just outside Oakham in Rutland, England's smallest county.

Follow the A47 east, then turn left at the roundabout, well signposted.
