Beacon Hill Country Park

Beacon Hill Country Park

The Country Park is about 4 miles from Barrow, close to Woodhouse Eaves.

The Park includes Beacon Hill, the summit of which at 248m gives panoramic views of Leicestershire.

Attractions include :

Walks - 4.8km circular route between the two car parks plus numerous other paths.

Labyrinth - A wooden boardwalk winding through the twisted rhododendron labyrinth.

Native Tree Collection - Our very own 'Tree Museum' as featured in Joni Mitchell's song 'Big Yellow Taxi'.

Natural Play Area - developed by Loughborough Beacon Rotary club and Welbeck College. It has a Log Train, Hazel Maze, and Log Towers.

Sculptures - various wooden sculptures are located throughout the park.

Livestock - English Longhorn and Highland cattle, along with Manx Loaghtan (brown) and Hebridean (black) sheep graze the heathland throughout the year. Alpacas are also present to help protect the sheep.

Childrens Play Area - The new play is now open next to the barbeque and picnic site near the lower car park. The new climbing frame, tower slide and animal sculptures will delight our young visitors and keep them entertained for hours.

Entry
Admission is free, but car parking costs £2.50 for the day. Coins are required for the pre-pay machines, and change is not given.
There are two car parks :-

The Lower Car Park, off Breakback Road, is close to the Labyrinth, Natural Play Area, Native Tree Collection, and the majority of the chainsaw sculptures.

The Upper Car Park, off Beacon Road, is close to the Summit and Livestock.

Open all year.
