Jelsons have re-submitted a planning application for a development on land behind Breachfield Road and Melton Road. As yet there is no entry on Charnwood Borough Council‘s website, probably because of the large amount of paper work submitted with this application. ie it will take time to prepare for the website.

BRAG has already held a meeting in response and intends to arrange further meetings shortly. This will probably include an exhibition at the end of the month.

We understand that the Parish Council will also be watching very closely to make sure that nothing is missed.

Although nothing is known about the new application, we remember that the previous refusal was accompanied with the comment that Jelsons will have to overcome ALL of the grounds for refusal of planning permission for permission to build to be given.

We noted earlier in the year “BRAG is delighted to report that Charnwood Borough Councillors have refused outline planning permission to the Jelson application to build a housing development behind Melton Road.

That doesn‘t mean the end of the case because Jelson may launch an appeal."

BRAG is the Barrow Residents' Action Group and is a campaigning group made up of residents from all of Barrow upon Soar. It is attempting to block the outline planning application by Jelsons for a housing development off Melton Road and behind Breachfield Road.

Did you know that Jelsons have put in a well-developed planning application for 285 houses on green fields behind Melton Road and Breachfield Road?
Charnwood Borough Council is being pushed by government to build houses and they want to build them in Barrow upon Soar. All 285 of them!

Why we should SAY NO:
• FLOODING
• MORE PARKING PROBLEMS
• WORSE TRAFFIC FLOW
• WORSE QUEUES AT HEALTH CENTRE
• LOSS OF COUNTRYSIDE
• BARROW BECOMES DORMITORY TOWN
